DCA-Markets, part of DCA Groep, will start listing carrots on Friday 5 April; 3 types of carrot are noted weekly. The company is adding the pricing information to their growing offering of quotes.
The carrot prices are published every Friday at 11:30 am, including explanation, on Boerenbusiness.NL. The listing presents the prices exclusive of commission and for class 1 carrot. The sold lots must be collected from a Dutch company within 3 weeks.
3 product types
DCA-Markets divides this pedigree listing into 3 categories. There is a price for dipped carrots (head thickness from 20 millimeters to 38 millimetres), a quotation for B carrot (50 grams to 250 grams) and a quotation for C carrot (head thickness above 40 millimeters). In all cases, it must be possible to flush at least 600 kilos from a crate.
"The establishment of the listing fits within the ambition of DCA-Markets," explains René van 't Riet of DCA-Markets. "We think it is important for the sector that there is continuous insight into the price development. Especially with a volatile product such as carrots. We hope to be able to introduce more quotations in the near future."
Transparent and reliable
According to Van 't Riet, the quotations are important for the sector. They provide information about physical trade, but are also a tool for concluding and settling contracts. DCA-Markets applies a number of principles of European regulation for making quotations (benchmarks), which also apply, for example, to the EURIBOR. "In this way, the listing is always established reliably and transparently," the company reports in a press release.
The first peen quotation will be published on Friday 5 April. DCA-Markets collects prices from processors, commission agents and traders. It concerns transactions made in the current week. Prices that deviate more than 15% from the average are not included in the calculation. A 'from-to price' is generated from all transactions.
