Clarebout joins machine manufacturer Dewulf

2 April 2019 - Niels van der Boom - 6 comments

Brothers-in-law Hendrik Decramer and Thomas Decan take over the management of machine manufacturer Dewulf Group. In addition, they have found a striking third investor: Jan Clarebout. This investment is separate from the Clarebout Potatoes family business.

The trio bought out the remaining Dewulf-Decramer family members through a capital injection from the Clarebout holding company. They now own all the shares. Hendrik Decramer, grandson of the founder, is now the director of Dewulf. Decan is also an active director. With the buy-out of the remaining family members, Willem Decramer has also been appointed as CCO stopped.

Dutchman René Boeijenga is the current CEO of Dewulf Group. He will hand over his position to Hendrik Decramer in the coming months. He will then focus on the integration of Dewulf Netherlands (formerly Miedema) in the Belgian branch in Roeselare. Work is also being done on the optimization of the factory in Winsum, Friesland.

potato knowledge
Clarebout's entry is logical according to Dewulf. "They are both West Flemish family businesses that have the same work ethic and mentality," they say. The capital injection must ensure stability. Despite not being actively involved, Jan Clarebout does provide the necessary knowledge of the potato sector.

Clarebout cites personal interest as the reason for the investment. For him, it is an investment that is separate from Europe's largest frozen chips producer: Clarebout Potatoes. In 2017, this company had a turnover of €600 million with a profit of €22 million.

Departing drivers
Dewulf hopes to implement the existing plans more quickly. It now has nearly 300 employees and achieved sales of approximately €2018 million in 65. The Belgian company went through a somewhat uncertain time, because shareholder and marketing director Guido Mangnus left in 2018 and family member Karel Decramer resigned as sales manager 1 year earlier.

Clarenbout will soon only want potatoes grown with the Wulff machines

and soon the seed potatoes that are planted by an example Grimme will no longer grow.

Within a few years the name Dewulf will change to The Wolf and then you will know.
Clarebout is preparing his potato empire for sale. 2 birds with one stone then: cash register and no more hassle with difficult farmers

Clarebout's slaves can now also buy the machines from him, handy right?

How would Grimme see this? Surely it won't be the case that Grimme will remain as the only producer of excellent machines? Then all the brakes are released at that monopoly company and you are stuck with their German ideology and prices.

I wonder why a company like VSS doesn't jump into the gap of the call for lighter machines. Many (AMAC) harvesters are still used today. Sign that they are good machines that do meet the needs of the independent farmer. Those machines will eventually come to an end. And then? .... will we see you again?
