The carrot trade has become significantly quieter after Easter. The trade is now mainly filled in by the custodians who have stored for a long time and are hesitant to offer their product. As a result, the DCA quotation Peen shows a decrease.
The quotation for B carrots drops by €3 per 100 kilos to an average of €28 per 100 kilos. In particular, the bottom of the market falls, which comes down to a price of €22 per 100 kilos. The price for coarser C-carrots rose by €0,75 to €31,25 per 100 kilos.
Eliminate stock
It was very busy for many rinsers this week, which is mainly due to the good question from last week† At the moment the rinsers mainly run on our own stock and there is not much supply yet, but there are large differences in the market. The traders who supply the supermarkets notice that the demand for good quality is still going strong.
The trade in lesser quality, which goes to Poland, among other places, is noticing that demand is declining. Although demand is generally lower, there is still demand from countries such as Romania and Slovakia. Germany and Belgium also continue to buy.
New offer
More supply is coming from Spain, Italy, Israel and Portugal. The rain that fell in Spain last week immediately ensured that the Netherlands was allowed to fill the gaps. However, there is tension in the market. The question is how long the buyers will continue to buy Dutch carrots, and when the new carrots will replace the old harvest.
