Significant amounts of precipitation fell in many places during the night of Wednesday 5 June to Thursday 6 June. Especially the west of the country, with the exception of Zeeland, has received a heavy shower. Where did the most precipitation fall, and did the storm cause damage?
A lot of precipitation fell in the west of the Netherlands last night. The province of North Holland had to process the largest quantities, because in some places more than 30 millimeters fell. In the provinces of South Holland, North Brabant and Limburg, more than 20 millimeters fell on average.
The least precipitation fell further in the northeast, especially in the province of Groningen. That is because it remained at about 3 millimeters. On Wednesday 5 June, the most precipitation fell in East Brabant, North Holland and the Noordoostpolder. However, in general there was less precipitation than last night.
Damage is not too bad
Jan Schreuder, the director at Vereinigte Hagel, says that so far the number of damage reports is not too bad. Although less precipitation fell in the east of the country, according to insurer Interpolis, the most damage was reported there.
In addition, also in the Boerenbusiness Dutch Crop tour showed that there was a large variation in precipitation between the plots. The plot in Middenmeer received the most rain on Wednesday and Thursday.
