Carrots are sold quickly, but at a falling price

The price for carrots from the new harvest has fallen slightly this week. The DCA listing of C-peen in particular is lower. Nevertheless, the trade is running smoothly. What is going on?

Trade indicates that exports are now doing very well. Exports are expected to continue to do well as long as it remains dry in Europe. However, according to the trade, the price level cannot increase too much, because then it is feared that the purchasing countries will switch to local carrots again. During this period, demand mainly comes from the Eastern Bloc countries.

Offer from Zeeland and Flevoland
The DCA quotation of the B carrot fell by €0,50 per 100 kilos to €14 to €16. The price for C-carrot is €16 to €18 per 100 kilos. That is a considerable decrease compared to last week, when there was still €20 to €22 on the board. Carrots are now also coming onto the market from Zeeland and Flevoland. The quality of this carrot is good and the field yields are around 55 tons per hectare.
