After two weeks of hustle and bustle on the carrot market, things have calmed down a bit. That is because Poland is partly off the market. However, there is already a lot of carrot on the market and the price for B carrot remains fairly stable. It is striking, however, that the price for C-carrot is falling again.
Poland is now harvesting its own carrots. As a result, this country, which has been very important for the market in the past two weeks, no longer buys many Dutch carrots. However, this is not a major problem for the market, because the Limburg carrots are now almost gone. The quieter market is normal for this time.
While fewer carrots are going to Poland, overseas exports are picking up. The carrot from Zeeland and Flevoland is suitable for this and therefore the carrot trade follows each other nicely. Yields of carrots from Zeeland and Flevoland have been reasonable so far. Yields of approximately 70 tons per hectare are reported in Flevoland.
DCA listing Peen
The DCA quotation for carrots this week for the B carrot is €14 to €15 per 100 kilos. This reduces the price by €0,50 per 100 kilos. It is striking that the price for the coarser C-carrot has again dropped considerably. The quotation for the 40 millimeter upward carrot fell by €2,50 to €14 to €15 per 100 kilos. This has to do with a greater supply than demand for this carrot. The carrot has sometimes outgrown its size, which means there is more supply of large carrots. The area of coarse carrot is also larger than in 2018.
