The weather is growing for carrots and that is reflected in the range. The numbers on the market are increasing, although the demand is not growing proportionally. This makes it increasingly difficult for the price to hold its own.
Temperatures around 20 degrees and very regular rain showers. These are conditions under which the carrot thrives. Yields of 75 to 80 tons per hectare are reported. In short, the offer is rich.
The question, on the other hand, is brief. There is little commotion, especially in free trade. Due to the cooler weather, the Dutch are putting carrots on the table more often, but domestic sales do not concern large quantities. Other European countries often produce enough from their own harvest, which means that demand must come from overseas destinations. Africa is making the biggest contribution in this regard.
Prices somewhat under pressure
The ample supply on this quiet market causes some price pressure. The DCA quotation of B-peen amounts to an average price of €13,50 per 100 kilos, with peaks above (€10) and below (€16). A similar picture is visible in the trade in coarse C carrots. The average price is slightly lower: €13 per 100 kilos. Here too with a range from €10 to €16.
If the situation on the market does not change, it is expected that carrot prices will come under further pressure in the coming period.
