Where possible, carrot growers choose to store carrots. The current price level is perceived as too low. The price will remain stable this week, although the price is somewhat pressured and there is little demand.
Many growers choose to store the carrots, although there is little cooling space available. They pay top price for that storage space. Part of the carrot is also not suitable for the cold room, so there is still a constant supply for the rinsers. That supply is not always of good quality.
The lower quality is also clearly paid less. Since the harvest continues and is expected to continue next week, supply continues to come. However, there is little demand and trade is very thin.
Price stable
Nevertheless, the DCA quotation for carrot remains at €8,5 per 100 kilos for B carrot (class 1). The price range remains €7 to €10. It must be said that the price is under pressure. The quotation for C-carrot increases by €0,50 to €10 per 100 kilos. The price range is €9 to €11. This is because there is more demand for it, although it is rarely traded.
