The damage threshold of the Broad Weather Insurance will be definitively lowered as of 1 January 2020. As a result, farmers can receive compensation earlier in the event of crop damage due to bad weather.
The damage threshold of the Broad Weather Insurance will drop from 30% to 20%, said Minister Carola Schouten (Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality) on Wednesday 27 November. In the event of a financial loss of more than 20% of the normal proceeds, the insurance company can request payment of the compensation.
Exempt from insurance tax
It was previously announced that the premium for the Broad Weather Insurance will be exempt from the insurance tax of 2020% as of 21. Entrepreneurs can apply for a subsidy in the Combined Statement from 1 March to 15 May 2020 for the plots they insure in 2020.
