The Agri Facts Foundation (STAF) is going to file a lawsuit for the first time. A collective of lawyers and lawyers is working on a summons for STAF before the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL). It is about communication around a report on the use of plant protection products.
In a statement, the board of STAF states that it is not satisfied with the response of the PBL to the request to adjust the communication about the so-called 'Interim evaluation Crop protection† STAF then decided to ask the judge for a ruling in order to enforce correct publication.
Summary incorrect
Everything revolves around the summary in the report. In that summary, the agency describes, as STAF describes, that the number of exceedances of plant protection products has fallen by 15%, while 50% had been agreed. According to STAF, PBL has not communicated clearly about the way in which the 15% has been calculated.
The foundation also asks why a certain calculation method has been chosen, while there are more methods that give different results. "The art of omission has misled stakeholders, politicians and media," said STAF.
