The poor quality makes export difficult and buyers are very careful. However, many lots of carrots have to go because of that quality, which creates price pressure. The fact that the price is still at the current level is mainly because the DCA quotation concerns class 1 carrot. Lesser games are not included.

A good price continues to be paid for good quality carrots. The fact that the price does not increase during this period is not a good sign, because the carrot is now coming out of the cold stores. This means that additional costs have been incurred. It is also becoming increasingly clear that significantly less carrot comes out of the boxes after rinsing. "On average, there is a net 10% to 25% less carrot in the box," said Joost Litjens, advisor at Bejo last week.

Stable price
The DCA Carrot Listing remains stable in week 8. This means that the average price for B-carrot is €10,50 per 100 kilos with a range of €8 to €13 per 100 kilos. The price range for the C-carrot is slightly higher with an average of €12 per 100 kilos.
