The carrot market is characterized by a healthy demand for good quality carrots. However, the supply of good quality B carrots is becoming increasingly scarce, which pushes up the DCA quotation. The trade in C-peen has come to a standstill.
With Easter approaching, there is an increasing demand for class I B carrots in the market. However, supply is scarce, causing B-peen's DCA rating to rise. At the same time, the price of the lower class B carrot has fallen considerably. Amounts of €15 per box are mentioned here for very bad batches. The destination also plays a major role in the demand and prices of the product. For example, sales to Poland are not going well, which means that there is little trade in that market.
Trade C-peen is at a standstill
DCA listed C-carrot last week, despite the low input. However, this is no longer the case this week. The effect of the corona crisis is also seeping through here. The trade in C-peen has completely disappeared. There is no longer any demand for the carrot, which normally goes to the catering industry.
The DCA quotation for B-carrot amounts to €17 to €24 per 100 kilos. The average price increases compared to last week by €2,50 to €20,50 per 100 kilos. As mentioned, there is no quotation for C-carrot.
