Most sorting stations have had reasonable work this week. There was extra demand this week, especially for the top end of the market. Brazil orders large selections and European (retail) destinations can do well with the mediocre. With the exception of Brazil, overseas demand is otherwise nil.

Onions falling bare
Packers and traders have increasingly visited onion growers' yards in the last two weeks. They are particularly looking for these above-average parties in order to meet demand. However, it is difficult to get hold of such parties. Unfortunately, there are a number of quality problems currently occurring, especially in batches with a large percentage of onions that are falling bare.

The extra demand on the onion market ensures a steady mood in bale prices. The prices for the coarse grades in particular are stable. All three regional fairs are slightly positive. All quotations (except 60% up Emmeloord) show a slight increase. When all regional fairs are compared, €30 to €60 is paid for the 12-16% coarse sorting and €60 to €13 for the 16% upward sorting.
