Minister does not want to lose knowledge network Skylark

Agriculture Minister Carola Schouten wants to maintain the knowledge network of the Skylark Foundation. The minister has commissioned Matthé Elema, the former director of BO Akkerbouw, to come up with a new practice network for arable farming within 1 year.

Schouten made this known in a response to questions from MPs Jaco Geurts (CDA) and Helma Lodders (VVD). Elema advised the minister about a possible restart of the Veldleeuwerik foundation. The main recommendation from his report is to establish a new practice network. This network is intended to create a smart connection between Skylark growers who work on sustainability in regional entrepreneurial groups in combination with the wishes of the sector, the government and research. The aim is to achieve a high-quality network of arable farmers as part of the total knowledge infrastructure.

Skylark Achievements
This new practice network is concerned with, but is not necessarily limited to, projects and developments in the field of sustainability. This idea is widely supported by organized primary arable farming, chain parties and research institutes as well as the government, Elema notes. He also concludes that a large proportion of the Skylark growers consulted see this as an opportunity and a logical step to maintain the achievements of the Skylark approach.

Existing and new participants
The new practice network should complement the various entrepreneurial groups that current parties in the field already offer. It is also open to growers who were previously not involved in the Veldleeuwerik Foundation.
