The carrot market has a special situation for this time of year. There is a meager supply, especially in coarse carrots. While the demand is fair to good. The question here is: what does this have to do with the DCA listing of carrots?
The prices of carrots are rising. Trade indicates that around this time of the year, the price of terrestrial carrots often goes down. Due to the meager supply of carrots and persistent demand, this results in an upward movement in prices.
Supply contracts
If demand persists at a similar level, this situation could continue for several months. The current demand comes from countries such as Germany, England and Ireland. A number of rinsing companies in the Netherlands have supply contracts with supermarkets. These are then obliged to deliver.
At the moment, carrots are mainly supplied from Limburg. There is talk of a small start to the harvest in North Holland. The offer of the carrot is not easy. The yields are disappointing due to the growing season and the coarseness of the carrot is too small. The plots sown later are the better plots in the Netherlands.
DCA Pean Listing
The DCA quotation for carrots shows an increase in the average price for B carrots. Due to the situation with a weak supply of carrots, the price increases by €2,50 compared to last week to €32,50 per 100 kilos of B carrot. The range of B carrots is a bit further apart, from €30 to €35 per 100 kilos. For the C-carrot, the average remains the same, namely €32,50 with an unchanged range of €30 to €35 per 100 kilos of C-carrot.
