Cosun beet growers have received the allocation for the 2021 campaign. Since sales are expected to be lower in 2020, it has decided to lower the allocation percentage compared to previous years.
The allocation percentage for 2021 will be 102%. This percentage is 3% stock than in 2020. This lower percentage is due to lower sales in 2020 and the resulting higher stocks. At the same time, Cosun also expects revenue in 2020 to be slightly lower than the multi-year average, with which production and sales should be in balance in 2020/2021.
Last week Cosun announced that it expects an average yield of 82 tons of sugar beet per hectare (and with 13,8 tons of sugar). For the 2021/2022 season, it reports that it expects sales of 1,2 million tons. The required production (in the 2021 campaign) is equal to this. This production should be achievable with the allocation percentage of 102%.
Starts on September 22
Cosun's campaign will start on Tuesday 22 September. The start is therefore more than 2 weeks later than last year. At the end of July, Cosun also made known that no exemption is required for the delivery obligation, as a result of the drought. Sufficient acreage must have been sown in order to make use of this.
