Work tray on the forklift is no longer allowed
Due to a change in the law, it has been prohibited since 1 July to perform work from a work basket on the forklift. Even when it concerns a special work platform. Working from a telescopic handler or crane is also not allowed, but there is an exception.
No longer incidental
Almost every farmer knows it. Replacing a lamp in the stable or cleaning the gutter, just add the forklift with a cubic box or work box. This has been prohibited since 1 July 2020 due to a change in the law. It actually already was, but this law had an exception. If it happened occasionally – a few times a year for a maximum of 4 hours – it was allowed. There is now also a line through it, writes Working conditions organization Stigas.
The law states that forklifts are designed to transport goods and not people. That is why the exception no longer applies. In addition to forklifts, similar vehicles are also covered by the law. An exception continues to exist for telehandlers, but only if a so-called assembly statement is available. The composition of the telehandler and the work basket must be inspected, provided with a CE mark and provided with the correct documents.
Asbestos remediation
According to Stigas, the reason for the amendment is not 'bullying peasants', but to accommodate asbestos remediators. It is therefore always mandatory to use an aerial platform or a telescopic handler specially equipped for this purpose.
