The carrot market is still under pressure, although there is more demand Belgium. Due to the persistent drought, yields are quite disappointing and there is a lot to criticize about the quality. Drought is also an issue in the province of Zeeland. Without irrigation, the crop sometimes even lies flat on the land, resulting in root aphid and mildew. The growth on those plots has therefore stopped.

The sale of Dutch carrots remains a tricky issue for traders. Overseas regions still prefer Morocco or France over the Netherlands, because the prices of this carrot are lower. And although the price of Dutch carrots has fallen sharply in recent weeks, it is proving difficult to regain these markets. There is also generally little demand for carrots within the European Union.
