The climate has changed enormously in recent years. We are increasingly faced with severe drought and little or no availability of fresh water. Fertigation is a possible solution to those problems. Van Iperen has been conducting trials in the high-yielding potato, onion and flower bulbs for 3 years now.
Fertigation is a combination of watering and fertilization. The water is supplied and fertilizers are added to the water via a dosing system. It eventually ends up in the crop via a main pipe and drip hoses.
Fertigation and arable farming – potatoes
At the moment there are a number of customers who now apply fertigation. We guide these customers very intensively. We also have 2 large tests. In the video below, Jan Willem Spaargaren and Leendert Koster tell more about the trial in seed potatoes.
Fertigation and arable farming – onions
There is a large trial in the onion crop at the Rusthoeve in Colijnsplaat.
We are also conducting a large, joint trial at Franzen Agriculture.
Fertigation has been applied on approximately 10 hectares of onions. Despite the
During a dry year, a large additional yield was achieved with fertigation.
