As last week as was expected, the carrot market has entered calmer waters this week. So not much is sold. The Belgians still buy small batches in the Netherlands, because it is not possible to harvest in Belgium due to the wet conditions. This is where it ends. In general, little trade is done in Europe. Exports to overseas destinations are also difficult. Continents such as Africa buy less than in previous years and that is a thorn in the side for the Netherlands.

However, several traders do feel that the market is feeling a bit more solid than in previous weeks. Since the yields are clearly less with sometimes only 100 boxes per hectare, instead of the usual 115 to 135 boxes, cold stores are also slowly showing themselves on the market. In general, the market is currently quietly rippling and there is little commotion.

What does DCA listing Peen do?
The fact that the market for carrots feels somewhat firmer is also reflected in the DCA quotation for carrots. The average price for B carrots remains stable at €12 per 100 kilos, with a price range of €10 to €14. For C-peen, the price will increase by €1,50 this week to an average of €12 per 100 kilos. This is also the case with a price range of €10 to €14 per 100 kilos. Carrots for storage are going away this week for €11 to €12.

It is still unclear what effect the volatile weather will have on trade. As a result, growers cannot continuously go out on the land, which causes a delay in the harvest and therefore the stock. Insiders also report that this is usually not the time of year to expect peak crowds. In short: the market is calm, but not disproportionate.
