Solar panels on the roof

Offered: Energy Shift

'Easily save and earn money'

13 November 2020

The Netherlands is becoming increasingly sustainable. More and more agricultural entrepreneurs are opting for solar panels on their roofs. It is important for the environment, but as an entrepreneur the financial return of course counts heavily.

Do you want to immediately save on your energy costs and at the same time make your business more sustainable? This is possible with the installation of solar panels on your stables and sheds. But what many entrepreneurs may find even more interesting is that the government is making it extra attractive for entrepreneurs to invest in solar panels with the SDE++ subsidy.

Solar energy is worth money
Flower bulb grower Gerard Menting has already used the subsidy twice to fill the roofs of two of his locations with solar panels. Menting: "We are entrepreneurs, so our first motivation for choosing solar panels is because there is money to be made with it. Our solar panels produce more than planned every year. We generate so much electricity that we can keep quite a bit of money in our pocket ."

Risk spreading
Menting is not the first farmer to discover the benefits of solar panels. Hundreds of farmers in the Netherlands are now producing green electricity. Solar panels are an investment outside the agricultural sector. In a market where prices can vary a lot from season to season, solar panels generate a welcome additional revenue stream for the company.

Menting: "It is of course a very nice side effect that we are also sustainable in this way. I would certainly advise other farmers to also consider solar panels."
