Cooperative CZAV closes the 2019/2020 financial year with a result of €2,3 million. The abbreviation for animal feed, fertilizers, crop protection and maize and onion seeds this year amounts to €800.000. This is considerably lower than in recent financial years. This is due to the coronavirus.
"The reduced market and seasonality, as a result of the corona pandemic, has clearly had an impact on our results," CZAV writes in a press release. This is reflected in the discount that the members of the cooperative receive, namely €800.000. Last financial year an amount of €1,5 million was paid out and the year before that it was €1,3 million.
Favorable fertilizer market
De fertilizer market is labeled by CZAV as favorable for the end user. "Due to a later start of the season and the dry conditions in the spring, more organic fertilizer has been applied. The long period of dry conditions has led to a lower disease pressure, which requires a lower use of crop protection products."
Another challenge this financial year was that it was CZAV's first year without the turnover of Agrimarket used to be. "We were able to partially compensate for this by acquiring all shares of Cebeco Granen. For example, we invest in the marketing of grains, seeds and legumes." The cooperative states that this fits in well with the opportunities that the protein transition can bring.
