The fireworks ban that applies in the Netherlands on New Year's Eve is also visible on the carrot market. There is little trade and many growers do not just let go of their batches. Will it ensure that the DCA quotation Peen ends the year in a stable manner?
The sentiment on the carrot market is the same last week. According to several traders, it is extremely quiet and neither the trade nor the growers intend to buy or sell at current prices. As a result, several flushing companies in the Netherlands have been completely silent over the past 2 weeks. Demand from abroad also remains moderate and this does not appear to be changing for the time being.
Listing sideways out of the year
The above results in the DCA quotations Peen going sideways out of the year. The average price of carrots is €14 per 100 kilos, with a price range of €12 to €16. The same price range applies to B-carrot, so the average price there is also €14 per 100 kilos. At C-peen the price is lower, at €11,50 per 100 kilos. The price range for C-carrot is €10 to €13 per 100 kilos.
Scholarship Emmeloord last week quoted €16 to €19 per 100 kilos for B-carrot from storage and tray carrots, but that higher price is not supported by many commission agents in the market. According to the traders, a higher price is only feasible for delivery later in the season and therefore not for immediate delivery. Not much change is expected in the coming weeks.
