Dacom and Sencrop are officially working together. The companies announced this on Friday 19 March. By linking the Dacom data with the Sencrop weather stations, specific advice for crops can be given based on local weather conditions.
Dacom is known for business management systems and data-driven advisory services. Sencrop claims to have the largest network of online agricultural weather data in Europe. In the past year, 40 links have already been made between Dacom systems and Sencrop weather stations at the request of arable farmers. "The good experiences are reason to further expand the collaboration," says Janneke Hadders, CEO of Dacom.
Plot level weather data
Research by Agridirect shows that 7,3% of arable farmers use automated warning systems to protect their crops against diseases and pests. Good local weather data is of great importance. Only then can the right decision be made at the right time, the companies report in a statement.
By linking the Sencrop weather station to the Dacom disease module, the Dacom system can provide disease advice based on local weather conditions. "Weather conditions such as precipitation are becoming more and more local. By collaborating with Sencrop, we are lowering the threshold for further optimizing the approach to tackling fungal diseases with our own weather data," says Hadders.
Martin Ducroquet, co-founder of Sencrop, believes the collaboration is an important contribution to the development of precision farming. "The ability to interface Sencrop with digital programs like Dacom is a key element in building efficient precision farming based on ultra-local weather data."
