Growers of organic potatoes, onions and carrots are already busy with the new 2021 harvest. If they have some time to look back on the 2020 harvest, they see that all 3 organic markets went smoothly last season.
That also applies to the past week when it comes to organic onions. The supply from Egypt is increasing rapidly when it comes to volume. 'They are put away sharply', according to a trader. As a result, Dutch product cannot really increase spectacularly. On the other hand, there is also little reason to fear that the remainder of the Dutch harvest will be left behind.
It is expected that the storage costs can still be recovered, so that prices will rise slightly towards the end of the season. For the time being, there is no discernible change in price, as a result of which unchanged DCA Indication Prices are issued for week 16: €40 to €43 for >30% coarse. And from €38 to €41 per 100 kilos for large onions. The mood is calm.
Dutch product does not disturb
In the market for organic carrots, things are running smoothly and not too much is happening. Product from Italy and Spain is increasingly available. Volume and price of this do not disturb the prices for Dutch product. The quotations are therefore unchanged for this week. The DCA Indication Price for good quality (class I) organic carrots remains at €25 to €30 per 100 kilos. The mood is calm.
Plenty of beepers from the south
Meanwhile, the market for organic table potatoes also welcomes plenty of product from southern regions. Here too, the market seems to be processing these well and prices for Dutch product remain at the same level, as a result of which the DCA Indication price for both floury and waxy potatoes remains at €25 to €28 per 100 kilos. For field crops 35 to 65 millimeters, this was collected from a Dutch farm or cold store within 3 weeks. The mood is calm and, although the season is not over yet, it looks set to stay that way for a while.
