For many organic markets, the season is now really coming to an end. Companies are switching to products from southern regions. Storage is becoming more and more challenging and the time has come to get rid of unsold stock. This also applies to organic carrots, table potatoes and onions. What are the DCA Indication prices this week?
The DCA Indication Prices for organic table potatoes, onions and carrots are the penultimate quotations of this season. Next week there will be 1 more publication about the state of affairs in these organic markets and then DCA-Markets will pick up the thread after the summer with the 2021 sales season.
Organic onions
In the onion market, more and more parties are switching 'to Egypt' and some to organic onions of Spanish origin. The quality is good, as is the volume. Price-wise, the foreign product is very competitive. Dutch products can make less and less of a difference, the trade hints.
It is expected that there will no longer be a plus compared to prices for earlier delivery. But there is not much trading anymore and the DCA Indication price remains the same as last week. So €40 to €43 for >30% coarse. And from €38 to €41 per 100 kilos for coarse onions. The mood this week 18 is calm.
Organic carrots like a night candle
The market for organic carrots is also switching to products of southern origin. And with that, the market for Dutch organic carrots from the 2020 harvest seems to be dying out. Good quality can still come along, but is becoming scarcer. The DCA Indication price for good quality (class I) organic carrots remains at €25 to €30 per 100 kilos. The mood is calm.
No spectacle in organic table potatoes
The market for organic table potatoes is also switching to foreign products. More and more is entering the Netherlands via the ports and these potatoes are gradually displacing the Dutch product. Free stocks of good quality are becoming less and less available.
Nobody expects spectacle anymore. Good quality still goes for about the same price according to the market. This means that the DCA Indication price for crumbly and firm cooking remains at €25 to €28 per 100 kilos. The mood is calm here too.
