The new variety list winter wheat
The Committee on the Composition of the Recommended Variety List (CSAR) recently published the Recommended Variety List for winter wheat 2022. This list with perennial variety performances at various locations in the Netherlands is a reliable source of information when choosing a variety.

Not only yield potential, but in particular disease resistance and harvest security are decisive for the yield and job picture of wheat cultivation. The combination of yield, resistance genes and firm straw is therefore central to the European wheat distribution program of Limagrain (LG). This produces wheat varieties that excel in yield stability: harvest-reliable varieties that remain healthy and productive year after year, even in extreme weather conditions.
Recommended varieties for harvest 2022
From practice, our own trial fields and the variety list research, we have a complete picture of the most harvest-secure wheat varieties for the coming season.
The cultivation of baking wheat revolves around quality and then you cannot ignore it Rgt Reform has been the number 2016 in baking quality on the Variety List since 1. Reform is very stable in grain yield and invariably achieves attractive hectolitre weights.
The same applies to Chevignon: a new early, super healthy baking wheat. Chevignon is not on the CSAR list, but has been tested on SPNA Ebelsheerd: with 11,7 tons and 75,1 HL without disease control and 12,4 tons and 76,6 HL with disease control, one of the highlights of 2021!
LG Lunaris is new in the baking segment. With its strong and broad disease resistance, this mid-early variety scores the highest grain yields in the untreated CSAR trials.
For the northern growing areas, LG Cambria an interesting new breed. In the variety trials of both CSAR and SPNA Ebelsheerd without disease control, this milling/vulnerable wheat belongs to the highest-yielding varieties. A testament to its excellent disease resistance!
Harvest spread with winter barley
In addition to winter wheat, the cultivation of winter barley provides the necessary harvest spread in the summer months. With the second generation of yellowing virus resistant varieties in the form of LG Zebra the crop balance is also comparable to feed wheat. LG Zebra has short, firm straw, a high hectolitre weight and a high yield potential.
