Export result on onions still top

Despite the fact that the onion market is calm to faint and the quotations are struggling to maintain the level of the previous week, the export result of onions up to and including week 43 can rightly be called a top result. Where did most onions go?

The cumulative export result of 464.259 tons is an excellent achievement for the onion exporting Netherlands. The average weekly export figure for the period weeks 36 to 43 is 36.428 tonnes. Based on preliminary information, the export result is 37.080 tons. Subsequent information from previously published export figures has given the export result a further boost of 2.020 tonnes. Calculated over all export weeks of this season, 29.016 tons of onions were exported every week.

Customers in 89 countries
Exports in week 43 went to buyers in 89 countries. The continent of Africa predominates. The list of largest buyers was again led by Senegal, which purchased 8.774 tons of onions. Ivory Coast is in 2nd place with 6.377 tons of onions. The cumulative difference between the two countries currently amounts to 7.808 tonnes in favor of Senegal.

The Philippines, Great Britain and Mali fill places 3, 4 and 5 with 3.205 tonnes, 2.628 tonnes and 2.405 tonnes respectively. A total of eight countries purchased more than 1.000 tons of onions. Measured over the period week 28 to week 43, the export result is 18.290 tons ahead of last season.{{dataviewSnapshot(2_1637136969)}}
