The mood on the market for organic potatoes and onions remains good and the sentiment on the carrot market is also somewhat better. For onions and carrots, this also translates into cautiously rising prices. The potato price, on the other hand, remains stable, but at a relatively high level.
Onion trade has picked up somewhat in recent days, according to insiders. Sorters have been pushing work forward because of the holidays and traditionally there is a higher demand for onions during this period. That seems to be the case now. The supply of good onions remains a bottleneck. The prices for organic onions are therefore taking a step up. The DCA Indication Price for the fine grading ranges this week from €50 to €53 per 100 kilos. For the coarse sorting, that is €52 to €56 per 100 kilos.
winter food
The market for carrots is also being pushed. Demand is cautiously emerging from countries such as Germany and Eastern Europe. The colder weather also plays a role in this, according to some traders. The ex-land supply - which is still present in these countries - dries up quickly due to frost. In addition, demand is increasing; carrots are a real winter food for consumers. The DCA Indication Price takes a step up this week and stands at €17 to €19 per 100 kilos.
There are few changes in the potato market. It is not really busy, but traders and sorters say that 'some batches are always leaving'. Good potatoes, however, remain difficult to obtain and growers with good batches are not in a hurry to sell yet. The DCA Indication Price remains at €62 to €68 per 100 kilos.
