Cosun Beet Company, the sugar branch of the cooperative food group Cosun, has sold the last part of the site of the former sugar factory in Puttershoek. Last December, the last piece was sold to the Belgian AG Insurance.
Cosun announced this on Tuesday 18 January. The factory in Puttershoek was closed in 2004 and since then work has been done on a new destination for the former factory. The old factory has been demolished and the site is being transformed into an industrial area with a dock. The site is being realized by AG Insurance, together with Heylen Warehouses in Belgium, under the name SHIPP21.
Cosun's specialty factory, silos and distribution center will remain in Puttershoek, the company said. In the summer of 2021, Cosun completed another solar park on the former factory site for the electricity supply of the specialty factory. Of the 17 hectare park, 7 hectares are directly connected to the specialty factory.
