It is searching and scanning and scanning the carrot market. There is enough good carrots in storage, but growers and buyers are still having a lot of trouble finding a suitable price for both. The quality of the carrots currently being offered is a primary concern. The lesser parties provide a compelling offer on the market.
Growers with beautiful carrots in storage are not really affected by the current prices. The demand for rinsed carrots is also not such that rinsers really have to go to the farm to meet the orders. Much of the trading done is for forward delivery, often a month or two. Prices for good carrots are around €15 per 100 kilos. Traders and rinsers cannot or do not want to pay these prices for direct delivery, because the prices of rinsed products do not increase. However, growers do not want to drop much either and that creates a stalemate. The result is that relatively little is done on the market.
Step back
The DCA Quotation for the B-Peen has taken a step back compared to last week and is back at the level of two weeks ago. The top of the market is €12 and the bottom is €8 per 100 kilos. It should be noted that there is little trading and that most of the trading that does occur is done at the bottom of the quote. €12 is paid, but the quality must be very good. The DCA Quotation C-carrot remains the same as last week and ranges from €9 to €10 per 100 kilos.
