Bruin Export requests 3000 tons of onions on FarmTrade

Wouter van der Beek, owner of Bruin Export BV, is very surprised by the large reach he achieves through FarmTade, but is even more positive about the number of new customers that he has achieved as a (mainly) onion trader.

"Last year, around this time, I came into contact with FarmTrade through Facebook. Before 2021, trading was always direct, customers came to us through the website or word of mouth. I had never looked into the possibilities of online trading Until I came across the story of FarmTrade. An online trading platform for the agricultural world, that is exactly where we are with Bruin Export. We decided to move with the times and put our demand for certain onions via FarmTrade." Van der Beek received a lot of response to his advertisement quite immediately and was positively surprised what one advertisement could create on the platform. "I underestimated times what an online presence can mean for a company like ours, but I'm really glad we took this step!"

Bruin Export has significantly increased its customer base with the start of advertising on FarmTrade. Last year's customers have stayed with them and the organization has been able to build up a good relationship with them. Van der Beek keeps asking for onions† "We still receive a response to advertisements placed every week. The threshold is so low that it is only a small effort for many people to contact us." Van der Beek notices a large peak in contact moments, especially when placing new trade. "FarmTrade is a nice expansion for us to bring our service to the attention of the right target group."

Bruin Export has been a specialist in the brokerage of conventional and organic onions, carrots and cabbage for about seventy years. The product is bought from Dutch growers and traded to wholesale markets in retail, such as supermarkets in Germany, France, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. Bruin Export knows the market, has short lines of communication and thus relieves the farmer when trading the product.
