Planting time lilies spring 2022
After a wet and mild winter, the planting time for lilies is approaching. To ensure a good and healthy yield, it is important to map out the current situation of a plot prior to planting.
Determine whether and to what extent Pratylenchus penetrans nematodes are present in a plot by means of a sampling. For the control of Pratylenchus penetrans prevention is the most important weapon: ensure good weed control and, if necessary, grow marigolds (tagetes) as a precursor. If necessary, carry out a treatment against nematodes before planting.
Optimal root quality
To ensure maximum yield and (root) quality of your lilies, it is recommended to Velum Prime to be applied at a depth of 10 to 15 centimeters. This is most effective through a soil treatment just before planting. Velum Prime can also be applied during planting with suitable equipment. Apply Velum Prime to plots with low nematode pressure solo at a rate of 0,625 l/ha. On plots with a high nematode pressure, it is recommended to carry out a combined application with granulates based on oxamyl or fosthiazate.
Bulb disinfection
Over the past few years, Bayer Crop Science, together with its partners, has been researching the immersion application of Velum Prime just before planting. This examined the killing of Pratylenchus penetrans nematodes in the planting material of lilies. During studies we have substantiated that Velum Prime combats nematodes in the dipping bath, increasing root volume and limiting the percentage of root rot.
Apply Velum Prime in the dip bath at a concentration of 0,09%. There have been good experiences in which lilies were dipped in Velum Prime followed by a soil treatment with granulates on contaminated plots. When you apply Velum Prime through a soil or immersion treatment, we see through tests and many practical experiences that the crop is more vital in the field, so that your crops are better protected against weather influences.
