Certis Europe and Belchim Crop Protection will continue together under the name Certis Belchim. The Japanese parent company of both companies, Mitsui and Co Ltd, announced this yesterday. Mark Watham, who now also leads the companies, will become the CEO of Certis Belchim BV
The merger will combine the companies' strengths to create another more powerful player in the crop protection market, Mitsui writes. “Certis Belchim combines the resources and expertise of its two previous companies, Certis Europe and Belchim Crop Protection, to form a major force in the crop protection market,” said Hitoshi Kudo, general manager of Mitsui's Agriscience Division in the statement.
“Certis Belchim is built on the foundations of two creative and dynamic companies that have positioned themselves as providers of innovative crop protection solutions, supported by excellent technical and product expertise and we will continue to build on these foundations in Europe and beyond. I am delighted to lead the way to give to such a capable team," Waltham said in the message.
The shareholders of the old companies also participate in the new BV The shares in the new company are divided as follows: Mitsui AgriScience International SA (67%), Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha Ltd. (15%); Nippon Soda (10%), Mitsui Chemicals Agro Inc. (6%) and Kumiai Chemical Industry Co. Ltd. (2%).
