The demand for carrots is picking up slightly, several rinsers report. Poland in particular is again on the market. This is a positive development, but does not immediately lead to a turnaround in the market.
Buyers from Eastern Europe are again more actively looking for Dutch carrots. It is mainly Poland that is leading the way after a few quiet weeks. It is striking that countries such as Hungary and the Czech Republic - which were previously important destinations - are taking a small step back. On balance, however, there is more demand for carrots. According to insiders, this is a positive development in the run-up to Easter, which is usually a busy period for rinsers.

The fact that demand picks up does not immediately lead to a turnaround in the market. There is still a relatively large stock hanging above the market. There is also a slightly coercive offer from parties that are declining in quality. The growers with good carrots in the refrigerator are in doubt: are you taking advantage of this period when demand picks up, or is there even more in the barrel later in the season?
The DCA quotation for B carrot remains unchanged, compared to last week: €8 per kilo. The top of the B-peen quotation is at €10 and the bottom at €6 per 100 kilos. The quotation for C-carrot is also the same as last week, at €7 per 100 kilos.
