Johan van Driel has resigned as chairman of the supervisory board of food group Cosun. Van Driel, who also runs an arable farm in Nieuw-Beijerland, has held this position for less than two years. He is also stepping down from the supervisory board, the body at the Cosun cooperative that is comparable to a supervisory board.
Cosun will announce this today (Friday 25 March) on its website. A reason for departure is not given. Van Driel announced his departure last Wednesday during a meeting of the Council of Members. Theo Koekkoek, Vice-Chairman of the Supervisory Board, is temporarily taking over Van Driel's duties. When asked, Johan van Driel does not want to explain his decision to step down and refers to Cosun's head office in Breda. Cooperative chairman Dirk de Lugt was not available for comment on Friday.
Van Driel's departure follows a period of unrest among Cosun and its members about the policy pursued.
