Moderate demand for carrots has been hampering the market for some time and Easter has unfortunately not changed that. And that while a lot of carrots still have to be sold, according to insiders. There are still possibilities for the very good carrots, but for the lesser parties, it is a matter of looking for a buyer. Carrots at the lower end of the quality spectrum are almost impossible to sell for the fresh market, according to a rinser.

There are hardly any ways to stimulate the demand for carrots. Price is the most important instrument, but that's where the stretch is, according to traders. Prices have been stable for weeks. If you want to increase a bit, the customers will immediately drop out according to rinsers. A small advantage of the moderate prices is that buyers are not yet very interested in early carrots from Southern Europe. Sporadically something comes on the market, but the price difference with the old harvest is too big and the quality difference too small. The DCA Indication price for B carrot this week remains the same as last week at €6 to €10 per 100 kilos. The quotation of the C-carrot also remains the same at €6 to €8 per 100 kilos. For both the B and C carrots, the largest volume is traded at the level of the lower half of the price range.
