There is little trade in carrots. Before Easter it seemed to be going a bit in the right direction, now almost the opposite is happening. The regular work continues, but otherwise the search is on to keep going, according to various flushers.
The picture between various carrot rinsers and traders varies a bit, but overall, as far as orders are concerned, the coming week seems to be calmer than in recent weeks. Now that picture may be a bit distorted. This week we had one day less due to King's Day, last week due to Easter and the week before that Good Friday was not a full working day for many flushers. What if you now have slightly fewer orders and you have to spread them out over five instead of four days.
little demand
The limited demand for carrots is and remains the major problem. Especially now that the new harvest is already arriving on the market. According to insiders, the season that we can run with old carrots is at most about six weeks. There is currently too much carrot in the refrigerator. It's hard to lose carrots with a story. But buyers are not exactly queuing up for good carrots either. The DCA quotation for B-carrot remains stable at €6 to €10 per 100 kilos and for C-carrot at €6 to €8 per 100 kilos. You just have to be lucky to find a buyer who actually dares to say yes.
