Avebe happy with average starch percentage

20 May 2022 - Eric de Lijster - 1 reaction

Royal Avebe looks back with satisfaction on the 2021/22 potato campaign that the cooperative food group concluded last week. The campaign went according to plan and the starch percentage of the potatoes is good.

According to Avebe, the average starch percentage over the entire campaign is 20,6%. This is 1,3 percentage points more than in the campaign of the previous season. The tare percentage this year is around 5%. This is slightly higher than last year. Avebe closed the campaign last Thursday, May 12, with the processing of the last potatoes at the factory in Gasselternijveen. The other locations, Ter Apelkanaal and the German locations Lüchow and Dallmin, already processed the last potatoes in February and March.

The members of Avebe have now planted almost all starch potatoes for the upcoming 2022/23 campaign, the group reports. The first potato plants are already above the ground. Avebe performs regular maintenance on the locations, so that they are ready for the new campaign period.

avebe satisfied but the members not, what an extremely sadly low payout price. It is better they close 1 factory because we can no longer tolerate potatoes for these prices and I therefore predict that they will receive considerably fewer potatoes this year, especially if the flake price remains at a higher level.
