The harvest of the new Dutch carrots is not far away. At the same time, a lot of carrots from the old harvest are still being processed. This puts considerable pressure on the carrot market.
The demand for carrots is not very disappointing, but you do have to work hard to get orders, according to rinsers. For the 'stamping' to Eastern Europe, it also has to be at competitive prices. Price plays less of a role for small packages, but you have to deliver top quality there. For retail, new carrots from Southern Europe are the alternative.
The prices for carrots vary widely. The DCA Quotation for B carrot this week amounts to € 4,5 per 100 kilos. The price range runs from €2 to €7 per 100 kilos. The top of the listing has lost $1 from last week. The market remains a real buyer's market and if it doesn't fit, the buyers will easily walk away.
