Tackling leaf diseases in sugar beets
June 27, 2022
The control of leaf diseases in sugar beets has not become easier in recent years. The pressure from Cercospora in particular has only increased.
This is caused by, among other things, the climate, short crop rotations and crop residues that remain on the land. Disease spores from leaves can remain in the soil for a long time and cause damage early in the season. Stemphylium has been less visible in recent years, but we also know that this disease can strike again!
It is important to start with as healthy a crop as possible and to execute the timing of disease control as well as possible. There is the remedy especially against all leaf fungi in beets BICANTA® with a broad scope.

What can you do?
- Monitoring in the field is important.
- Always prevent Cercospora from establishing itself in the crop at the beginning of the season.
- Therefore, carry out a first preventive spraying in good time (often around the longest day). If the timing of the deployment of resources is not right, in other words: if we sprayed too late, we will see more damage in the plots later on.
