Ivory Coast makes Senegal shed a tear

The course of the season can be traced back to the export figures of onions. The figures for week 25 have now been announced and it becomes clear that we are dealing with the last weeks of the sales season.

The most recent onion export figures, those from week 25, make it clear that the farewell to the 2021-2022 marketing season is just around the corner. The provisional statement mentions a volume of 11.749 tons. The publications of the export figures for weeks 18 to 24 have been adjusted upwards with a total volume of 308 tons. This brings the export total to 1.278.806 tons, which is 92.609 tons more than last season.

In the 2020-2021 season, the average weekly export figure was 22.495 tons, measured over the period week 27 2020 to week 27 2021. The lead that the 2021-2022 season has managed to build up means that 1 month more sales have been sold, or 13 months of sales in 12 months of exports.

Ivory Coast in the lead
In week 25, Ivory Coast led the export pack with 2.482 tons. This season, the Ivorians have purchased 177.811 tons, knocking Senegal out of first place as the Netherlands' largest onion buyer. Guinea and Great Britain purchased 2.095 tons and 1.915 tons respectively. The three countries mentioned were the only countries that purchased more than 3 tons in week 1.000. In total, customers in 25 countries were supplied with Dutch onions, with Bahrain coming in at the bottom with 61 kilos.{{dataviewSnapshot(10_2)}}
