This is evident from the company's half-year report. In total, €12,9 billion was sold in the first half of this year, compared to €9,3 billion in the first half of 2021. Pre-tax profit increased from €94 million to almost €251 million.

The turnover and profit of the agricultural activities in particular rose strongly, although the energy and construction divisions also made a good contribution. The turnover of the agro division increased from €6 billion to more than €7,5 billion, while profit before tax rose from €88 million to €222 million. Within the above division, the business supplies (fertilizer, crop protection, machines) performed best. Baywa benefited from farmers' concerns about shortages of inputs, such as fertilizers and crop protection. Baywa had provided itself with plenty of stock in good time and in order to be able to deliver properly and was also able to negotiate an extra margin. Farmers did not cut back on their purchases, because of the good market prospects for grains and oilseeds, among others.

Cefetra increases turnover 205, result by 80%
The Rotterdam grain trading house Cefetra, a subsidiary of Baywa, also performed well, but not as well as the business supplies branch. Turnover rose from €2,5 billion to more than €3 billion. Profit increased from €20 million to €37 million. The more specialized activities, such as the protein and starch trade, performed particularly well.

In the energy division, turnover increased from €2,2 billion in the first half of last year to more than €4,2 billion in the first half of this year. Profit before tax increased from €57 million to almost €106 million. Baywa has invested heavily in solar and wind energy parks in recent years and is now reaping the benefits. In the Netherlands, the company owns more than ten solar parks and a minority share in a number of other countries. The turnover of the construction division increased from almost €1 billion to €1,16 billion. Profit before tax increased from €34 million to almost €44 million.
