The top 4 winter wheat for harvest 2023

16 August 2022

The grain harvest got off to a particularly early start this year and was conducted under excellent conditions. The quality and yield of the winter wheat was also generally very good this year. Which wheat varieties are the stars and therefore recommended for harvest 2023?

Grain is one of the strategic crops of breeding company Groupe Limagrain. What is unique is that we not only breed grains, but also process them into raw materials and end products within our cooperative. This complete interdependence of the chain and our worldwide research network produces new grain varieties every year that perfectly match the needs of growers and collectors.

LG's winter wheat breeding focuses on high yield potential in combination with strong resistance genes and firm straw. Our varieties are available from your local grain collector or dealer. Select your varieties with our online selection tool >

Chevignon: super healthy yield topper baking wheat
This variety has become the most widely sown baking wheat in the Netherlands, due to its unique combination of early maturity, health and high grain yield. Chevignon is one of the top varieties in hectolitre weight in the trials at Ebelsheerd.

Rgt Reform: number 1 quality wheat of the Variety List
For years at the top in baking quality and in practice very stable in yield, that is Rgt. reform. A widely applicable variety, for both early and late sowing and also wheat-on-wheat.

LG Cambria: filling wheat with strong resistances
The low-input wheat that leads to good yields with minimal crop protection. Has very strong resistances and LG Cambria can be used as later wheat during harvest spreading.

LG Skyscraper: promising kilo stunner
New high health biscuit/feed wheat. Scores No. 1 in grain yield in English variety trials. The LG Skyscraper has a very strong resistance to yellow rust and is suitable for wheat-on-wheat. A breed to keep an eye on!
