The sugar content has increased in the 4th week of the sugar beet campaign and amounts to 16,4%. The tare percentage remains the same compared to last week, Cosun Beet Company reported.
Due to the favorable conditions with sunny and dry weather during the day and colder nights, the sugar content increased from 16,2% to 16,4% in week 40, which is above average. According to the most recent figures, levels rose in most regions, but the highest levels are reached in the north. For example, the sugar content on the Groningen and Frisian clay is 17% or higher. In the south, certain regions rose by almost a whole percent, such as in Zuid-Beveland from 15,9% to 16,8%. On average, the sugar contents there are lower between 15,5% and 16,5%.
The tare percentage has remained unchanged from last week and remains on average at 9,8%. The differences increase from 6,6% in the Achterhoek to 12,3% in the Hoeksche Waard, with the south of the Netherlands being above the national average. This is due to the increased amount of precipitation that had fallen. The recoverability index has remained stable at 90,4%.
