The situation on the organic markets is virtually unchanged compared to previous weeks. It is very quiet in the trade, but that has not yet had much effect on prices.
There are absolutely no fireworks on the organic markets. Trading is slow and there are few transactions. The market for organic potatoes is very quiet and only the regular work, for example inland, continues slowly. Demand from abroad is nil and sales are under great pressure. This applies to several products from the organic segment. On the other hand, there is also little offered by the growers, who seem to be becoming a little more nervous. However, that does not yet put pressure on prices. The DCA Indication Price for organic potatoes remains the same compared to last week at €36 to €41 per 100 kilos.
The organic onion market is similar to that of potatoes. It is very quiet at the moment and the demand from abroad is simply not there. Fortunately, the supply at the moment is not large, so there are no parties hanging over the market that will further reduce the price. There is confidence and still perspective for the long term. However, this is not expected to change in the near future. The DCA Indication Price for organic onions therefore does not change compared to last week and amounts to an average of €30 per 100 kilos.
Demand for carrots is weakening
The demand for organic carrots is much greater than for potatoes and onions. However, the supply of carrots is the same and the price of carrots is at a high level. So you have to pay a lot, which is not always possible at these prices. As a result, there is no room to take a step up and the DCA Indication Price actually drops by €1 per 100 kilos at the top compared to last week. The DCA Indication Price therefore amounts to €37 to €40 per 100 kilos.
