The situation on the organic markets remains almost the same as in other weeks. Only the organic onion market is changing. The price of conventional onions ensures a firmer bottom price for organic onions.
The organic onion market is not dependent on sales. Demand is very limited and only permanent work continues smoothly. There is hardly any interest from abroad and this does not seem to be changing much in the near future. For the long term, the cards are being shuffled again regarding the demand for organic onions. The expectation is that there will simply be less available in Europe due to a lower harvest.
In terms of price it is a lot more positive. This is improving compared to previous weeks. Conventional onions are close to organic onions this season. Now that conventional onions are rising in price, organic onions are joining the trend. The DCA indicative price for organic onions is increasing and amounts to an average of €34 per 100 kilos.
Organic potatoes unchanged
The situation on the organic potato market is unchanged compared to previous weeks. Sales are substandard and very little product goes abroad. On the other hand, there is also little supply, but nervousness among some growers seems to be increasing. The DCA Indication Price for organic potatoes will only decrease at the lower end this week by €1 per 100 kilos. This brings the quotation to €34 to €39 per 100 kilos.
Organic carrot
The demand for organic carrots is currently calmer than earlier this season. Yields appear to be higher than expected - unlike earlier this season. So there is interest in carrots in storage. Organic carrots remain well priced, but this also makes it difficult to move up. The DCA Indication price for organic carrots therefore remains the same and amounts to €38 to €40 per 100 kilos.
