The demand for organic onions is minimal, but the price has improved considerably compared to last week. Organic carrots are also firmly in the saddle when it comes to price.
The organic markets are currently not relying on sales, but some prices are still shifting upwards. Organic onions hitch a ride on the price of conventional onions, which rose again last week. It is very quiet with regard to the sales of organic onions. Only permanent work continues for domestic consumption. Due to the price increase of conventional onions, the DCA Indication price takes another step up this week by €3 per 100 kilos. The DCA indication price for organic onions is €40 per 100 kilos for both fine and coarse grading.
Carrot rises slightly
Organic carrots are also quiet at the moment, but interest is being shown. There is a transition to product from storage and you simply have to pay more for that. Given the price, which has been stable for weeks, growers will not settle for less. There is confidence among both the trade and the grower. This week the DCA indication price for organic carrots will increase slightly, the average price is €40 per 100 kilos.
The organic potato market remains unchanged compared to last week. Both the demand for the potatoes and the supply from the grower are low. At the moment lesser batches are being sold at lower prices, but there is no question of a large volume hanging over the market. The DCA indication price for organic potatoes remains the same as last week and amounts to €33 to €38 per 100 kilos.
