Dirk de Lugt will become interim chairman of BoerenNatuur, the umbrella organization of 40 agricultural collectives that advocate nature-inclusive agriculture. The board of the association has nominated De Lugt as the temporary successor to Alex Datema, who will become director of Food & Agri at Rabobank.
The members of BoerenNatuur will vote on the nomination next week, on April 20. De Lugt is still chairman of the cooperative Cosun and from the Trade association Agriculture. However, he will resign both positions in a month and a half. De Lugt and his family have an arable farm on Texel and they participate with their company on the island in agricultural nature and landscape management at the agricultural collective De Lieuw, reports FarmersNature. Thanks to his commitment to Cosun and BO Akkerbouw, he has a large network in the agricultural world, which BoerenNatuur calls an advantage. He would like to use his knowledge, network and connecting personality at BoerenNature on the theme of nature-inclusive agriculture, as can be read in the statement.
The temporary appointment of De Lugt gives the board the opportunity to quietly look for a chairman. According to BoerenNatuur, the interim chairman will mainly focus on association affairs. These are preparing the organization for the implementation of the new strategy and representing the interests of the members in the implementation of the agricultural Nature and Landscape Management (ANLb) in the context of the National Strategic Plan (NSP).
