The mood on the organic onion and potato market has not changed for some time. Things are not going smoothly in the potato market and demand remains low. The onion market enjoys the high price level and growers remain optimistic and hope for a little something extra at the end of the storage season.
The price level remains high and has been stable for several weeks. This is because the supply is meager and demand continues quietly. There is certainly not much of a spectacle, but we still have to continue with last year's harvest and that gives us confidence in a little extra at the end of the season. A critical note is the quality that comes into play. Some parties have to say goodbye and that means that there is also more supply. The DCA Indication Price this week remains the same as last week and amounts to an average of €82 per 100 kilos for both fine and coarse size grading.
Potato market unchanged
The organic potato market has been sluggish all season and lots are disappearing mainly into the conventional circuit. It is mainly potatoes for which agreements have already been made that are sold in the organic channel. The supply simply remains too large and many growers think they have had enough for this season. Even now that potato planting has to be postponed due to the weather, these vicissitudes of the new harvest do not provide even a little room for the price to rise. The DCA Indication Price remains the same as last week and amounts to €33 to €40 per 100 kilos.
